The Humax Foxsat Freesat Box is our Highly Recommended - non recording option if you are indeed looking to buy a freesat box. For the price you simply cant go wrong, its incredibly fast and easy to use. Picture quality is excellent in both HD and SD and at a price that wont break the bank.

Within the non-recording range of HD Freesat Boxes, this is still our favourite unit, it performs well, looks stylish and at its current low price is a bargain.

Goodmans GFSAT200HD

The Goodmans GFSAT200HD Freesat Box came out second in our tests to the Humax Foxsat HD unit. We felt that the picture quality wasn't as crisp as the picture delivered by the Foxsat. Set-up on the Goodmans again wasn't as easy as it was on the Foxsat and this is something that we feel let it down.

Grundig GUFSAT01HD

The Grundig GUFSAT01HD Freesat Box is made by the Alba group. Alba owns Goodmans, Grundig and Bush. Their freesat boxes are almost identical minus the fascias. When we first tried out the GUFSAT01HD we were impressed. Again like other Alba models the SD picture was a little soft yet the HD pictures continued to be very balanced and impressive.

The one thing that the Grundig Freesat Box had over the others here is that it had slightly better sonic performance but it really was marginal. Bush BFSAT01HD

The Bush BFSAT01HD Freesat Box is an excellent performer in our eyes. Its almost identical to the Grundig GUFSAT01HD and the Goodmans GFSAT200HD box. The only differences are the price and a few little features here and there, and the remote buttons are silver instead of grey. Again like the other Alba boxes the picture is excellent in HD but yet again in the SD format they are a little soft. The menu system is a little fiddly and for this reason we would always go for the Humax Foxsat Freesat Box.

Freesat brings you over 80 TV channels and Radio stations. Currently they are not all in HD however more and more HD channels will be added when the service gets into full swing. We must add however that they key channels such as BBC HD and ITV HD look absolutely fabulous.

Panasonic have just released a new range of Plasma TV's with integrated Freesat HD technology. We have seen one of these new Panasonic TVs in action at their 'on the road' tour of the UK and they are delightful.

They come in three sizes 42", 46" and 50", enough for most living rooms.
